Strategic treatment and long-term complications of HIV Infection
Antimicrobial utilization and infection control
Active research studies include;
VISN-QI: Implementation and Evaluation of a VISN-based program to improve HIV Screening and Testing. Multi-site prospective study of interventions to improve HIV screening and testing rates in the VA funded by A VA Health Services Research and Development Service Directed Project. Principal Investigator.
Veterans Aging Cohort Study (VACS). Multi-site prospective cohort study of 3,000 HIV-infected subjects and 3,000 HIV-negative controls. Funded by the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. Co-investigator.
ESPRIT: A randomized, open-label, phase II, international study of subcutatenous recombinant IL-2 (Proleukin(r)) in patients with HIV infection and CD4+ >300/mm3: evaluation of subcutaneous Proleukin(r) in a randomized international trial (ESPRIT 001). Multi-site prospective study funded by the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Local site-investigator.
STALWART: Study of Aldesleukin with and Without Antiretroviral Therapy (ESPRIT 002). Multi-site prospective study funded by the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Local site-investigator.
EXHALE: HIV and Lung Complications in the HAART era: Focus on Obstructive Lung Disease. Multi-site prospective study of pulmonary complications in HIV-infected patients funded by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. Co-investigator.
MED-CHK: Implementing Computerized Clinical Assessment of HIV Patient Adherence. Multi-site prospective study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health of the effectiveness of using a computerized interface to better detect variations in adherence to HIV medications and medication errors and to prompt effective interventions. Co-investigator.
